About Us

The Navy League of Canada – JRK Millen program is designed to help kids develop life skills and encourages team building.  The Cadets train with other children their own age and from many different cultures.  Since 1895 The Navy League of Canada has worked to preserve Canada’s maritime legacy, passing it on to future generations so that they may continue to realize the vast potential of our oceans, lakes and rivers and the critical role they play to our national well-being.

Our cadet program uses a Naval theme as a platform to develop patriotism, good citizenship, a sense of duty, self-discipline and respect for others. There is no association between Navy League Cadets and the military and the Navy League Cadet Program receives no government funding. Funding is provided through the hard work and dedicated volunteers and their fundraising efforts and the generous support of our community.

The Navy League Cadet programme is designed to offer activities that are both fun and educational. Depending on the Corps resources, Navy League Cadets may have the opportunity to:

  • learn about boating and water safety

  • go camping

  • go swimming

  • participate in parades and community events

  • play sports

  • learn knot tying, communications and other seamanship skills

  • go on citizenship tours and other trips

  • be in a corps band

  • make new friends
